Steamed Vegetables (Serves: Two, Preparation Time: 15 minutes)

Many a restaurant serve steamed vegetables on the sides of their main servings. I love the crunchy taste of it and thought of making it into a full meal itself. Steaming vegetables is indeed as simple as it sounds; so here is the quick recipe for a tasty and super healthy meal.

Ingredients

  • 2 carrots
  • 10-12 French beans
  • ½ cup of shelled peas
  • 10 florets of Broccoli
  • Salt and Black pepper, to taste
  • Low fat butter (optional)

Thoroughly wash all the vegetables

Steps

  • Cut French beans and carrots into length-wise strips (about 1 inch long)

  • Take French beans, carrots and peas in a microwave friendly dish; add salt and just about 2 tea spoons water, cover the dish with a lid and microwave for approximately 4-5 minutes

  • Add Broccoli and microwave for additional 2 minutes

  • If you like, you can 1 tsp melted low fat butter (optional)

  • Sprinkle black pepper

Enjoy as a full meal with tomato soup
